MIO Behind the Scenes
MIO: behind the Scenes
In the ever-evolving and demanding world of design, engaging clients and offering high-quality, personalised interactive experiences is essential. Delta System and Metaverso have combined their expertise to create MIO, the 3D web configurator that transforms how products and environments are designed, presented, and brought to market. We spoke with Otello Salvador, Sales Director of Delta System Srl, and Riccardo Franco, Managing Director of Metaverso, to discuss the key themes behind the creation of MIO, exploring its vision, challenges, and unique features of the 3D CPQ.
1. The Vision behind MIO: a New Paradigm for Wooden Furniture
Otello Salvador: our aim was to create an innovative tool capable of precisely managing data related to highly configurable products and the associated order process. We envisioned a configurator that combines management data with high-definition graphics, elevating web-based CPQ solutions to the next level by generating detailed, photorealistic 3D models. This enhances customer and reseller interaction, speeding up the sales process.
Riccardo Franco: we leveraged our extensive experience in 3D graphics to develop MIO as a tool that produces visually accurate models, replicating the physical properties of materials. The ability to view every detail of a product realistically helps engage customers, presenting offers more effectively and making the user (whether the final customer or reseller) part of the product co-creation process. MIO marks a paradigm shift in how design products and environments are conceived and presented.
2. The Influence of 3D Graphics on MIO’s Development
Riccardo Franco: our extensive experience in 3D graphics was crucial in developing MIO. We integrated cutting-edge technologies such as Physics-Based Rendering (PBR) and high-fidelity modelling to ensure each model appears as realistic as possible. Key features of MIO include its user-friendly interface, the ability to manage a vast number of product variants, and its compatibility with multiple devices without the need for additional plug-ins.
3. Overcoming Challenges through Collaboration between Delta System and Metaverso
Otello Salvador: one of the main challenges was integrating different technologies and skill sets to create a functional and intuitive product. The collaboration with Metaverso was key to overcoming these difficulties; their technical expertise complemented our practical knowledge and insights from the Wooden Furniture market. MIO is not just a tool but an immersive sensory experience.
Riccardo Franco: a significant challenge was ensuring the configurator could handle a high number of product variants while maintaining a high level of realism and performance speed. Working with Delta System allowed us to create a solution that is truly cutting-edge.
4. Enhancing the Customer Experience with MIO
Otello Salvador: MIO is a web-based CPQ platform that integrates rendering, order management, and business data such as catalogues, bill of materials, pricing, and delivery dates. Configured items inherit real-time pricing with absolute precision, creating immersive experiences that shorten the sales decision-making funnel and enhance customer loyalty. For sales directors, this means complete control over the sales process and a significant reduction in time to market.
Riccardo Franco: MIO allows the customisation of products or entire environments, inserting the project into its real-world context through augmented reality and the immersive MyView VR viewer. This enables clients to visualise exactly what they are purchasing with high levels of detail, enhancing the brand experience. Furthermore, advanced management of digital models supports the development of Digital Twins, complementing physical prototyping and reducing timeframes.
Conclusion
MIO represents a revolutionary solution capable of transforming the product configuration paradigm into a fully integrated, interconnected experience, far beyond mere design.
Today, configuring means connecting and integrating different company systems, creating unique experiences that respond to modern product development, sales, brand management, and marketing demands.
Thanks to its web technology, MIO seamlessly connects ERP, WMS, MES, CRM, logistics systems, and Digital Twins, realising a fully integrated digital factory. The commitment of Delta System and Metaverso has resulted in the creation of a “Multi-product Configuration” platform, highlighting how MIO can manage entire catalogues, setting it apart from current solutions on the market.
